IoFE was introduced at a Knowledge Meet organised for CSOs in Jharkhand

Knowledge dissemination about the Forest Rights Act, 2006 (FRA) among forest communities is critical, as recognizing Community Forest Resource Rights (CFRR) titles will enable them to participate in a forest economy. It is an optimal and sustainable opportunity to secure income sources and equitably partake in forest management. The Badlav Foundation, a Jharkhand-based NGO, organized a state-level consultation meeting on FRA implementation on December 13 and 14, 2022. The objective of the meeting was to synthesize the field-based learnings, share knowledge and practices being piloted by civil society organisations (CSO) partners, and chalk out a plan for creating momentum around FRA implementation in the state.

Governance Specialist at BIPP-ISB, Mr. Sandip Chowdhury, participated in this two-day conference. He introduced the vision of BIPP-ISB’s “Initiative on Forest Economy” (IoFE) for Jharkhand. He also elaborated on all the aspects of the pilot in Simdega. All the present CSOs were visibly impressed with the initiative and its potential. They were especially eager to know about RatiFi, our app to file CFR claims, and a tracking tool for monitoring the process. They are willing to use RatiFi for CFR claim filling in their respective regions to monitor and increase the pace of the whole process.
