Hitish Kumar Palei- GIS Specialist
Hitish Kumar Palei brings a strong foundation in civil engineering and advanced expertise in geomatics to his role as a GIS Specialist at the Bharti Institute of Public Policy, Indian School of Business. In this capacity, he applies geospatial technologies to support data-driven policy and planning, with a particular focus on integrating GIS tools and techniques into project execution. He also manages district-level operations for two key initiatives, the Initiative on Forest Economy (IoFE) and the Sulabhaa Project, where he coordinates field activities, facilitates spatial data collection, and ensures effective implementation of geospatial strategies on the ground.
Hitish holds an M.Tech in Geomatics from the Centre for Environmental Planning and Technology University (CEPTU), Ahmedabad, and a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from the Government College of Engineering, Keonjhar, Odisha. He completed his master’s thesis at the Indian School of Business (ISB) under the guidance of Prof. Ashwini Chhatre and Abhijeet Parmar, focusing on the application of geospatial analysis in public policy. He is also proficient in Python, Machine Learning, and Google Earth Engine (GEE), which he uses to analyze spatial data and develop scalable, automated solutions for complex environmental and developmental challenges.
Outside of his professional responsibilities, Hitish enjoys cooking, painting, travelling, and photography. These interests fuel his creativity and add depth to his approach in geospatial problem-solving.
